Common questions

Is MedFish free?

Yes. Logging catches, using the map and finding shops are free. Some spot owners charge for access to their exact coordinates, and that price is always shown before you pay.

Can other people see where I fish?

Not unless you publish a spot. Saved spots are private by default, and exact coordinates for protected spots are never sent to a device that is not entitled to them. You can also publish an approximate area instead of an exact pin.

The map is blank or grey

This is almost always a connection problem, or the app not having location permission. Check your connection, then confirm MedFish has location access in your device settings. If it persists, email us with your device model.

Marine data looks wrong or is missing

Conditions come from third-party sources (Open-Meteo and EMODnet) and occasionally a provider is unavailable or has no coverage for a specific point. Treat all readings as indicative, and never rely on them for safety at sea.

How do I change the language?

Settings → Language. You can follow your phone's language or force English or Italian. Species names are shown in the language you are using, with the scientific name alongside.

I want to register my tackle shop

On the sign-in screen choose Register a shop, then submit your details. Every listing is reviewed before it goes live. Once approved you can manage inventory, opening hours, offers and coupon codes from the shop dashboard.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Delete my account. It is immediate and permanent. See the account deletion page for what is removed and how to request deletion if you can no longer sign in.

Report a safety or content issue

To report abusive content, an inaccurate shop listing, or a spot that reveals a private location, email support@medfish.online with the details. We review reports promptly and remove content that breaks our terms.
