Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 August 2026
These terms apply when you use the MedFish app and website. By creating an account you agree to them.
Safety first. MedFish is an information tool, not a navigation system. Never rely on it for safety at sea. Always check official forecasts, carry proper equipment, and follow the fishing regulations that apply where you are.
1. Who provides the service
MedFish is provided by Louis Airaut, Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA, United Kingdom (support@medfish.online).
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Provide accurate details and keep your password secure.
- You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone else.
3. Your content
Your catches, photos, spots and messages remain yours. You keep ownership of everything you upload.
When you publish ordinary content, you grant MedFish a non-exclusive licence to host, format and display it as needed to operate the service. That licence normally ends when the content or account is deleted, subject to records we must retain by law and access already granted to other users.
Paid-location content is governed by the current Creator Content Licence, which you must accept before submitting it. That licence is non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-bearing and sublicensable as needed to operate the service. It allows MedFish to host, display, format, moderate, market and sell access to the submitted content. You keep ownership of the content.
You agree not to upload content that:
- is unlawful, abusive, hateful, or harassing;
- infringes someone else's rights;
- reveals another person's private location without their consent;
- depicts fishing that breaks the law where it took place;
- is spam or deliberately misleading.
We may moderate, reject or remove content that breaks these rules, is inaccurate, creates legal or safety concerns, or is unsuitable for the service. We may suspend accounts that repeatedly breach these terms.
4. Fishing responsibly
Fishing regulations — licences, closed seasons, minimum sizes, protected species, marine protected areas — vary by country and region and change over time. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules that apply to you. Information in MedFish, including species data, is provided for reference and may be incomplete or out of date.
5. Paid-location access and creator licence fees
- MedFish is the sole merchant of record. Paid-location access is digital content offered and sold by MedFish. The buyer contracts with MedFish, not with the contributor. Contributors do not collect customer funds or set retail prices.
- Contributors who accept the current Creator Content Licence may submit paid locations from any country. MedFish decides whether content is offered, assigns its store-backed retail tier, and controls moderation, availability, refunds, removal and buyer access. Submission eligibility is separate from payout eligibility.
- What you see before paying, and what you get after. Before purchase, a paid location shows only a metadata-scrubbed photo of the fish, its species, and an approximate area of about 500 metres. The displayed pin is the centre of that area, not the exact location. Once purchase is confirmed, the buyer receives the exact position, fishing technique, bait, depth and contributor notes where supplied.
- Each location unlock is a separate consumable in-app purchase billed by the App Store or Google Play. The final localized store price shown before confirmation applies. Buying one location does not unlock another and is separate from MedFish Premium.
- Access is normally granted as soon as the store confirms the purchase. If confirmation is delayed, do not purchase the same location again. Buying access does not permit republishing or reselling the coordinates.
- Variable creator licence fee. A qualifying unlock may accrue a fee equal to 70% of qualifying net unlock revenue MedFish actually receives from Apple or Google after store deductions. It is not 70% of the retail tier or buyer-facing gross price. The fee is calculated from reconciled settlement data, in whole minor units, rounded down.
- RevenueCat purchase confirmation grants access but does not make a fee payable. A reconciled fee remains pending until both settlement has occurred and at least 30 full days have passed since purchase. It becomes an available licence fee only after those conditions are met.
- A contributor may request payout when available EUR licence fees, after adjustments and reservations, total at least €25. Payout availability is limited to countries explicitly enabled in MedFish's European EUR payout programme, requires a reviewed profile and approved destination, and may be paused or unavailable. SEPA participation alone does not guarantee eligibility. Current supported countries are shown in the app.
- Refunds, purchase revocations, confirmed fraud, disputes or qualifying moderation actions may reverse a licence fee once. Before payout, that reduces pending or available fees. After a completed payout, it creates a non-transferable adjustment against future licence fees; MedFish does not automatically debit a contributor's bank or PayPal account.
- Contributors are responsible for accurate payout information and their own tax, reporting and other legal obligations. MedFish reviews payout readiness but does not claim to perform government-identity or tax verification. Creator licence-fee statements are private accounting summaries and do not create stored value or a transferable balance.
6. Ads and MedFish Premium
- The free version of MedFish shows ads, served by Google AdMob. Where the law requires it we ask your permission before showing personalised ads, and you can change that choice at any time in Settings under Legal.
- MedFish Premium is a recurring in-app subscription that removes ads and unlocks tide forecasts while it is active. It is sold on two terms: a monthly plan and a yearly plan, which costs less than twelve monthly payments. The price and billing period shown by the App Store or Google Play before purchase apply.
- Payment is charged to your store account. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period — every month on the monthly plan, every year on the yearly plan — unless you cancel it through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings before renewal. Deleting MedFish does not cancel the subscription.
- Cancellation stops future renewals; Premium remains available until the end of the paid period unless the store states otherwise. Refunds are handled by the store under its rules and applicable consumer law.
- Premium does not unlock paid spots. Each paid-pin unlock is a separate consumable purchase under section 5.
- We do not let advertisers see your account, your catches, your messages or your spot coordinates. What we share with AdMob is set out in the Privacy Policy.
7. Business Listings
- Business Listings and Store Pages are reviewed before publication.
- You may only register a business you are authorised to represent, and the details you publish must be accurate.
- A Business Listing is a promotional directory/store-page subscription only. MedFish does not provide a cart, business checkout, order management, business-sale tracking, merchant balance, payout, or commission feature.
- Any transaction between an angler and a listed business happens outside MedFish, and MedFish is not a party to it.
- We may remove a listing that is inaccurate, abandoned, or breaches these terms.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, bulk-download or resell data from the service;
- attempt to obtain coordinates you have not been granted;
- probe, disrupt or overload our systems;
- use the service to break any law.
9. Availability
We aim to keep MedFish running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change, and marine data depends on third-party providers we do not control.
10. Liability
The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for decisions made at sea based on information in the app, or for the accuracy of third-party marine data or user-submitted content.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Ending your use
You can request account deletion in Settings. A request may be held while pending or available creator licence fees, a post-payout adjustment, or a payout request remains unresolved; deletion can continue after those accounting obligations are resolved. Purchase, licence, statement and accounting evidence may still be retained where required by law. We may suspend or terminate an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use MedFish afterwards means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
